5 Tips to use Slow Cooker, everyone needs to know:
Joann and I use our slow cookers all year round, I actually have five of them all different sizes and I use them all. The thing is if you use them for soups, you can use them for stews meats. What you didn’t know you can even use them for desserts, there are a few basics that we’ve learned over the years. We’d like to share them with you today.
Tip 1: no peeking every time you lift up the lid.
The number one tip that, I’m going to start with today is no peeking every time you lift up the lid, you let out some steam you’re giving up 20 minutes, you’re going to have to add 20 minutes back into your recipe, and generally 1 hour of cooking on high equals two hours on low.
Tip 2: make sure it’s 1/2 to 2/3 full food
When filling, your slow-cooker make sure it’s 1/2 to 2/3 full food won’t cook properly, if there’s too much or too little food. When cooking hearty vegetables like carrots and potatoes, one tip you might want to remember is to keep them about the same size, that way they’re going to cook uniformly and be finished at the same time.
Tip 3: The vegetables in first add your meat on top
If you’re going to be cooking with meat, it’s important that you layer the vegetables in first add your meat on top. Because believe it or not they’re all going to finish at the same time. If you’re using meat like ground beef, ground turkey for soup or chili you’ll want to make sure that, you brown it first and drain it. It just makes sure that, your dish is more flavorful and it just cooks better in terms of cooking other meat in the slow cooker.
Tip 4: buy cheaper cuts and they actually taste better
You can buy cheaper cuts and they actually taste better cooked in the slow cooker. If you’re using inexpensive meat in the crock-pot, sometimes you get a little bit of extra fat, so here’s a quick and easy tip just take a piece of bread pop it on top. It’ll absorb all the fat you remove the bread, and you’re good to go.
Tip 5: revive stale crackers and potato chips in your crock-pot
Did you know that, you can revive stale crackers and potato chips in your crock-pot. It’s true all you need to do is put it in and leave the lid off for two to four hours on low, they’ll be fresh and perky again. Another idea for your slow cooker is good old fashioned baked potatoes, what you can do is you wash them carefully pierson with a fork wrap in foil. You can use your slow cooker to cook them it take you about 8 or 10 hours on low, or 3 or 4 hours on high, take them out and they’re all ready to go.
These are just a few simple tips that we’ve learned over the years. Thanks you.
